Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy of the male genitourinary system dieases.

As a classical anticancer prescription, Hedyotis diffusa Willd. (H) and Scutellaria barbata D.Don (S) are ancient anti-cancer Chinese herb medicines. It has a history of more than 100 years, but its function principle and biological active ingredients are not very clear. The team provided evidence that the formula prevented prostate cancer from progressing by keeping cancer cells in the G2 phase of the cell cycle. Moreover, the effect of stalling cancer cells in G2 is achieved not by destroying the cell’s DNA, but by inhibiting the enzymes needed for G2 cell progression. Using the ChIP technique, the team was able to determine how the plants affected these enzymes. (Hnit， 2019)
